Green Day's "Warning" is (musically at least) very close to the Kink's "Picture Book". and then they do it again on a few of the new songs on American Idiot (the new single, of which i can't remember the name, fools me at first in thinking it's "Bullet The Blue Sky"). don't get me wrong, i really like GD, but i am always a bit surprised that some of their recent songs are sounding just a tad familiar of something else.anyways, Green Day are hardly the worst plagerists out there. at least their lyrics are biting!
The first thing that came to mind when I heard Danny California was that Athony's lead vocal sounds a lot like the one he did on Californication. Dude still can't sing but I guess he's found his nitch.Nice guitar sounds by John F though, as always.....
and they said Tom Petty had not decided whether to sue or at least had no comment.IMO, Dani California is far better than anything Tom Petty ever put out anyway.
And the guitar riff is straight out of Purple Haze. So maybe Hendrix estate can sue as well.
But I support RHCP. This is a great album, sprawling, pure pop and old fashioned analog sound. If they are blatant about the influences they use, at least they put them to good use.
