Yeah, we'll you'll have to get well into the CD before the swamp dries a bit....If all I heard were the first few cuts, I'd throw it out.

Greetings EBerlin,And if I may comment, your opinion is respected and no offense taken. There really is no winning or losing here, just modest objectivity. :)
On another note, Ive noticed you have a Linn LP12 turntable, a very fine piece of equipment, perhaps this is what your using, hard to believe 'West" wouldn't sound sublime on that deck with the rest of your setup!
In many instances the music that I prefer most over the long haul, generally, at first listen aren't standouts. Its only with time and repeated listening that the performance will emotionally engage me and never really gets tiresome, as do pop favorites did when I was younger. The beauty of my more recent music choices ( which I attribute to the asylum and its many helpful inmates) are keeping me committed to this hobby which for me at this point is an occasional small hardware purchase, but its mostly enjoying others correspondence on these forums and listening to great music, and movies! The beauty in music IMO, is the tremendous amount of variety and various genres, of many different cultures, both from today's modern music as well as historical classical composers and various Jazz giants of recent past. Its my hope EBerlin that perhaps with time you find some enjoyment in this, Lucindas latest effort, West.
I certainly meant...and took...no offense. Although I did buy "World Without Tears" on LP, I have West on CD. I only buy the occasional new release on vinyl, but I do have a sizable LP collection from before the digital days that I never considered getting rid of.I'm also more than familiar with the slow-to-grow-on-me quality of some favored recordings. And I'm often very interested in giving something I don't like a second...or a 10th chance, if it somehow seems worthy of the effort.
I listen to all of the above: from the entire history of classical music up to the present, a great deal of jazz, as well as rock, alt-country, whatever. And generally I prefer music that demands something of the listener.
By the way: do you know the music of Kasey Chambers?
EBerlin..I appreciate your suggestion in regards to Kasey Chambers, Ive since searched and I'm game for most anything, so Ill put her on my short list. And- add in Smart845s Patti Griffin, she sounds excellent from what little I heard of her.
My daughter introduced me to an artist by the name of Holly Brook, Warner Brothers, very nice vocals and some piano, simple but time well spent with my oldest Daughter as shes taking a increased interest in music, much to my delight! Although I'm not sure shes ready for the likes of Yngwie Malmsteen, perhaps a little more quality time, much to discuss with her over some time spent around music and life's reflections.
Thanks again for your suggestion EBerlin; and just by the way Ive read your posts from time to time on this forum { music } and your musical knowledge/perspectives are valued here. :)
much better sound without the distortion/saturation in the US version.
Thanks Tmiddle,Vinyl or cd and where would I find it.
Best...
