Being a dealer for Oyaide since US inception, I have ordered and custom-built many dozens of power cables along with receiving a like number of 037 connectors (and 046's and 079's). I have not seen *one* example with anything other than a smooth, mirror-like finish (as Duster described). I know this to be true as I pre-condition each and every cable (prior to customer shipment), then inspect and bubble-wrap each connector prior to shipment.I would definitely return the 037 to your dealer for a new one. The finish you describe is *not* the norm and is an anomoly. One of the primary reasons I chose Oyaide was because of their superior QC and finish.

Well, you may not have seen *one*, but you've now heard of *one*. If I could capture it with the macro on my camera, I'd take a pic for you all, so that you don't doubt my veracity, or think I have some agenda for simply stating a fact.

....your word is good enough for me. With large-scale production, it's always possible for that *one* to escape quality control final inspection. After all, we're only human.Again, get it exchanged for a proper one. If you were my customer, I would do so without question.

Thanks Alan. I'm half-tempted to get another connector, and compare it to the 'flawed' one, just to see if I can hear a difference. But then there's burn-in, and reterminating, and yada, yada, yada. Although I'd really like to determine for myself if the smoothness of the plating really makes a difference, just for my own audio education.
Man, what a geek I am. ;)
