The Big DogsPioneer SX 1980.....great overall receiver
Marantz 2500/2600....very expensive but classic vintage Marantz
Sansui 9090, G9000...big sound
Nikko 1015...excellent sound, very reliable underrated companyI'm sure I left many out but these are the ones I have heard over the past years.
IMO Marantz is not over rated but ebay is driving prices for the 22xx series way up.
