RichardThere is also that 6W6 has twice the gain of a 45.
Zo of the 45 and 6W6 is the same so IT isn't different.
The 45 is directly heated so the 6W6 is easier to power.
Also the 6W6 has .5pFd capacitance while the 45 has 7pFd.So the 6W6 is easier to implement,
easier to drive with more gain
while has only a slight increase
in 3rd order distortion.DanL
