47 two stage amp ~ Solution of Magic ?

58.107.189.194

http://hollowstate.netfirms.com/magic5.htm

wrt a 47 two stager, Lloyd (a semi retired EE) the Mapletree designer emailed me:

The Magic 5B delivers well over 10 V rms in any mode into a load of 20 K or more. The 8 pf input capacitance seems low, but that is all the better.

The current the Magic 5 delivers depends on the input resistance of the power amp. Eg at 100 K load and 4 V peak (around 3 V rms), current would be 0.04 mA peak (around 0.1 mW).

The input resistance of the 47 input stage is determined by the value of the grid leak resistor.

So the 5B (which can be configured to use 6SN7GT’s) – 47 direct coupled 845 could be a “goer”.

Cheers
