Looking at the core size of the websters and noting that no obvious airgap is present they will saturate and thus show certain behaviour in an electrical sense. You can observe this yourself, just plot the inductance vs. DC current.
Now if the transformers saturate or are near saturation this will result in certain other things.
Those are facts, no consensus needed.
Non of this BTW suggests that "the old vintage PP webster OPT's in SE are not good", unless you define the things that result from operating them the way you do as "bad".
