It depends on the amp. SETs do add some second order hamonics, but I don't think that's a real issue, unless it adds ALOT. Some amps do seem to add warmth, but I've also heard SETs that were as cold as the arctic snow. SETs can also remove, especially in the extremes. Many SETS have problems with deep bass(<40hz), and others have problems with upper treble. Some have problems with both. Finding a SET that does it all-glorious mids, extremes, immediacey, and all the audiophilia etc. that doesn't cost more than a decent car can be challanging. Price points tend to require some compromises in the design. One has to decide what they are willing to compromise on-that depends on their speakers listening habbits, and personal tastes-some of which change in time.
