""I have to start to wonder why you continually challenge John Curl et al and their merry band of sycophants to face off in any sort of technical debate""kuriboSelf abuse perhaps?
Actually, they do have a lot to contribute technically. The problem is they do not realize it. I continue to hope that they will learn that. (naieve, aren't I??) :-)
Curl seems to believe he needs to know far more than others. In the past, it was necessary for him to advance the SOTA in amplifier design by doing it all himself, as the technology wasn't that good. Now, it has advanced beyond his understanding in some areas, and in others he is the one who has advanced it. Case in point: the 45 degree theta Jc model..He thought I was posting bullshit, when in fact it was a tried and true method for calculating die temp and mount thermal resistance..He's better off if he learned it and can apply it to his designs.
But I couldn't hold a candle to him w/r to low noise design..
We each have our strong points..So, he does have a lot to contribute, I wish he'd see that..(listening John?)
And Charles Hanson?? The dawn of realization hit me when I saw a post up above, where he said he sells high end amps and expensive cables... DUH!!!!! Upside my head....
He feels that to adopt my hypo of peltier effect is to abandon all the marketing hype HE is using to sell the high end cables..When in fact, if the peltier effect is truly an issue, the high end cables may already be designed to reduce the effect..to him, it's a money thing..why shoot himself in the foot?
How many times have I seen nickel touted as a bad thing?? Doh, nickel is way far away from copper and gold, peltier is worse for that combo...
AND...if peltier effect is a non zero threshold effect, the work function difference which is actually responsible for peltier could conceivably be the cause of a very low level diode-like non linearity..That (totally unsupported) possibility would absolutely and irrefutably support the Van den Hul test result and the Curl test result. When I get back to work, I'll start to research the lit for that.
Their complete lack of knowledge in that area makes them afraid of the consequences, when they actually should be involved in the discussion.
""...Isn't it painfully clear to you by now that they are simply not capable? Didn't Steve Eddy's experience with this crowd show beyond any doubt what they are made of? Leave them to their folly; most intellligent people see right through them and realize by their childish behavior that they are clueless when it comes to rational, logical, technical debate. Stop wasting your energy and time on them-it seems horribly unproductive... ""kuribo
Everything you say is totally correct..except for the "unproductive" part. I would never have considered peltier effect for signal cables if not for JC..Nor skin effect if not for JR...
There's always something good that comes out of it..I've learned a lot about both those subjects as a result..and actually have used it in work issues..
Cheers, John
