Re: Why early digital sounded so bad

"Not *all* early digital recordings sounded 'bad'. Just nearly all of them. I recall Soundstream mastered and Telarc putting out some ok sounding stuff. Still a real disappointment compared to good analog, though."

I have to kindly disagree here. I think the Telarc/Soundstream digital LPs were some of the greatest consumer recordings ever produced.

I hasten to add that these LPs require the finest in playback and downstream equipment to realize their greatness- Many analog rigs and systems simply cannot handle the extreme dynamics (bass linearity) of these recordings.
