I don't care much for name calling and bad language in this or other forums. When it is based on willful ignorance, I am even less tolerant.

You are just grasping at straws. You argument was based on the assumption that iTunes was able to deliver bit perfect output and thus by JimH's logic, there should be no difference between it and JRiver MC. You continue to assume that Chris Connaker can magically transcend iTunes's design limitations and make iTunes output bit perfect when he uses it.
iTunes uses shared mode audio output. The linked image shows the Win 7 dialog that sets the sample rate for shared mode audio output. Whatever rate you set, Win 7 converts shared mode audio output to that rate.
If you set the sample rate to 44.1 KHz, then files ripped from CDs may be passed through Windows without change. However, high res. material (88.2, 96 or 192 KHz sample rates) would be down-sampled to 44.1 KHz.
If you set the sample rate to 96 KHz, then 96 KHz files may be passed through Windows without change. However, high res. material at 192 KHz would be downsampled to 96 KHz. Material at 88.2 KHz would be converted to 96 KHz. Material ripped from CDs would up-sampled to 96 KHz.
I've provided a simple example of why iTunes's design guarantees that it can't provide bit-perfect output to the DAC chip in all cases. I have not discussed mixing, volume control or whether iTunes makes any changes before it sends audio to Windows.
Avoiding the Windows audio stack is a primary reason to use ASIO or WASAPI (exclusive mode). JRiver, Foobar and some other players give you that possibility. iTunes doesn't.
No point in continuing this discussion.
