Asio4All worked OK for me once I figured out how to set it up. But I can see how it might be somewhat difficult by someone who isn't facile with computer software.
If you had ever had the task of writing similar "shim" software that attempts to bring together various incompatible and ill specified contraptions, such as the M$ audio stack, you would have some appreciation for the difficulties of making this work. Any "shim" software can only go so far. It's not going to work by magic. Some intelligence is required on the part of its users.
