I seem to have hit a nerve.I *did* miss the discussion re: iTunes doesn't *always* do bit perfect. I read your other post, though, and I didn't doubt its veracity. I get it that iTunes doesn't guarantee bit perfect. You appear to be conflating the difference btw always, sometimes, and never being able to deliver bit perfect.
iTunes *can* deliver bit perfect, right?
Right?
And am I stupid to assume that Chris Connaker, owner/editor of ComputerAudiophile.com knows full well that iTunes might have this short coming and also knows how to either temper his comments accordingly or set up iTunes to behave properly? And if Mr. Connaker *is* that incompetent (I *really* doubt it), then shouldn't Jriver be too embarrassed to display his subjective review. I just don't get it.

You must have missed the part where I wrote that I actually auditioned Jplay and found it only slightly preferable to foobar (not enough that I'm willing to pay for it). I couldn't care less whether anyone agrees with my assessment or not. I was really hoping that Jplay would knock my socks off. I guess my expectation bias let me down.My "infatuation" is that JimH, among others, doesn't bother to listen to a Jplay, instead dismissing out out of hand. JimH thinks he understands all of the factors that can possibly affect SQ and if a product doesn't fit his world, he dismisses it, even to the point of adding fuel to a thread wherein it was speculated that Jplay is a "scam".
So, remind me again about who's attacking who.
