dunno - IMO simple diy push-pull triode amps without loop feedback might give more sense of front-back depth but are speaker input Z-"touchy" - sometimes can be voiced by 1st gain stagefullrange - 8-12" vintage stuff wouldn't really rock - although have alnico EV SP15 in Karlson which has bass-midbass "sock" needed - like >>10X what'll you'll get from little-girly 6.5" FR- this needs a tweeter due to falling power response off axis
a Karlson type if executed Ok with coax is OK for rock, etc. - cone excursion needs to be kept almost invisable to keep gurgle down
2-8" Fostex/side and horn night work for you???
