Re: Eminence LAB 12 drivers

Hello Tom!

I wrote:

"All products that were represented performed well. The LAB Sub appears to be satisfactory, as were all the others. But all products were also beginning to rolloff at 40 Hz, with none of them better than 3dB down at this frequency. By 30 Hz, all horns represented were at least 10 dB down from their 80-100Hz midbass level. This is good response for a basshorn, but it is also important to point this out."

And you replied:

>> 30 Hz" Look at the measurement 1MGPFRAlab.jpg again, that's 5 dB

Here's the chart from the "shootout":

At 80-100Hz, the graph clearly shows 124dB. By 30Hz, the graph shows 114dB.
"10 dB down from the 80-100Hz midbass level."

You took offense at my observation but the data speaks for itself. It would appear that the thing you would want to do is to have your particular description be the only one that's ever uttered. You demand that it be said the horn produces "+/-5dB between 30 and 220Hz" rather than the equally accurate description of "30Hz output is -10dB from the 80-100Hz midbass level."

As for "time alignment," I had written more comments and responses to your claims. But I removed them because I think that your representation here says it best. On the one hand, you promote the Unity saying it is a product unique because of supposed time alignment between adjacent subsystems within it. And then on the other hand, you say that the large LAB basshorn is capable of similar integration in this "time alignment" scheme. So I think it's better to just leave the readers with that thought to consider.

Take care!

Wayne
