John,
1)John S. has kept me posted pretty well with progress, but keeps a few things up his sleeve. He was working on the aluminum mounting plates last we spoke.2)The Audax sounds interesting. I saw the spec's on some of their new designs and they look very good. I, too use TAD 2001s, but not yet in the Unity. This spring, I hope.
3)DSP done well, eh? I would need many a moon to get up to speed on such a system. Very promising, though, for the hobbyist.
4)I use the same Scan Speak units in a pair of sealed 3.3 cf subs for HT, 27 Hz(-3). Plate amps. About 2.25" thick. Not loud enough either.
5)Question: Below what point is directionality lost? I guess I was still operating under the mistaken impression that below 100 Hz and without significant upper harmonics, we were hard pressed to identify a source.
6) Wacky subs are fun! It's just wood and wire for most of us--nothing too exotic.
Tim
