Did you use the DAC in the Node, or an external DAC? I'm using a Schiit Bifrost with the Node and am quite happy with the sound and soundstage. That combination has even brought a surprisingly good soundstage from my JBL L100's in the Florida house. Of course, the two of them together are more than your price point...
