I agree with you that most of Apple's customers couldn't care less about hi-rez - but I suspect that's true with the buyers of any PC or smart phone. OTOH, I've just been playing multi-channel DXD and quad DSD (DSF) files on my Mac Mini (with third-party SW of course) and I'm really bowled over with the results.
