For the past decade, when audiophiles have sent me products, the products are all cables. Hardly any speakers or electronics come my way.
Funny you should bring in the NAD C298. What triggered my receiving amplification from Rotel and Simaudio was that one guy from my audiophile circle/network/web downsized. He sold off the 6 NAD CI 720 single-channel amps. Just the box remains :-) But this set in motion, the lending, borrowing, and exchanging of amps.
I'm looking forward to your reports about the C298. How accurate are the trim pots? Does the unit give off heat or make noise? Does it have an easier time with one speaker over another? Is it "sensitive" to cables? Sonically, does it impose itself, or does it get out of the way?
