Hi People
Just blowing some time on a rainy day, came across this websight and was reading the posts.
I have a pristine condition C270 that I run through a 4 way active system via the C270 balanced outputs, I use a RANE digital stereo 4 way X-Over with time alignment adjustment and all other required facilities including CD EQ. Power is supplied via 2 X Australian Monitor Dual Bi-Amplifiers and 1 X AM Quad Amplifier. Output in RMS is 1600 per channel for frequencies o - 100 hz, 800 from 100 - 800, 250 from 1khz - 7khz and 250 from 7khz - 20 khz + I use CD 100mm pro Horns (JBL)for the 800hz + duty hence do bot need even 1/4 of 250 available. (1w = 108db)
What I can say about the C270 is this:-
At full gain there is absolutely no noise at all, when you consider that the voltage gain on the Ausi Monitor power amplifiers, this is amazing.
Speed and detail are stunning, there is no tonal colouration, depth is superb.
Bass is unbelievable, fast articulated and powerful, no false tone. Easy to pick instrument producing bass within a second.
Trebble, like the bass sends a shiver down your spine.
The secret is to use the Balanced facility. My experience is that the C270 is brilliant when used in un-balanced mode, however, use the balanced facility and the difference is dramatic and incredible. It takes listening to a completely new level
Mike
