In my opinion, the DP80/DC81 is best cd playback system in existance! I have not heard the current seperates, but I have never liked the sound of Delta/Sigma chips.
The entire C-270 series is comparably neutral, offering a full dose of Accuphases trademark linearity and refinement.
I have always found the best allround Accuphase preamp to be the C-240, with the P-400 (Class-A/AB) being the best as well (I have both).
The C-2400/A-30/A-45/P-5000/E-550 are the current price/performance class leaders to beat.
If I had to choose just one system, it would be an E-550 + AD-2800, DP80/DC81, a top-class Micro Seiki table amd tonearm + your choice of cartridge, and a small, top quality, relatively efficient floorstanding monitor like the Avalon Symbol.
