LOL, I am sooo familiar with your plight, given the amount of experimentation I did with Razoring (and after taking it off and back on 3 times). The final removal was a major project because -- by no fault of the Razoring process -- I managed to fill in a ton of holes with the butyl rubber.
My solution was to carefully insert a pin into each hole's butyl plug and spin it around. The stuff stuck to the pin and I just pulled it out. Tons of holes, tons of patience. But the experiment that caused this problem, yielded the lowest distortion levels I ever measured in these Maggies. Pity I could not keep it so. Still, the experiment led to better things altogether. In fact, the 1.6QR I now have await all the tweaks I used to make the MMGs sound so lovely. I bought the 1.6QR used and they came with Razoring...so a modified similar experiment is planned later this year.
Are these now your only main speakers or are you just having fun bringing them back?
