I've had that problem too....

I had a problem years ago with a Rowland amplifier shutting down driving my 3.3R's, it was the speaker cable causing the amplifier issues. I assume too much capacitance. They were MIT's, not sure which model. Though different cables "fixed" it, it really was an amp issue not being able to drive the cable / speaker combination.
