Basically the same but a friend of mine had the latest and greatest TACT room correction unit on his Apogee Grands (yes the big daddy of all planar speakers).
What we heard with extensive listening and lots of different gear was this:
The room correction works as advertised; however, it also imparted a distinct sonic overall of electronicness that we found significantly detracted from the overall musicality. Nothing we tried got rid of it, except running the TACT in full bypass mode and using it only as a normal non-equalizing preamp. In other words, the processing was not invisible in fact it was easily audible as electronic artifice. Whether or not the Lyngdorf does the same or not I don't know but I did hear a full Lyngdorf system in Germany with the Dali Megaline (my favorite speaker in the world as far as currently available designs are concerned) which left me deeply unimpressed (very electronic sounding). The Megaline can sound very close to real life but not on this occasion.
What I would recommend is this: Get a Behringer DEQ2496 and the partnering microphone. They are cheap and will do 95% of what the TACT and/or Lyngdorf will do. Also, I own one and after extensive (as in years of use) experimentation with the unit I have found that it CAN be sonically invisible, even when processing the digital stream. You have to use it digital in and digital out (just forget the analog in/out they are rubbish) and preferrably with some kind of jitter reduction in/out (I use Monarchy Audio DIPs both in and out and they work great) or at least on the digital output.
This will give you a powerful toolbox as well (it has a good RTA and accurate SPL meter as well.) and it does work invisibly if you use it as I have described. Of course this requires a good DAC afterwards (I recommend the Monarchy Audio M24 DAC).
The Lyngdorf amps sound sterile to me, as I described above about the setup with the Dali Megaline and other times I have heard them at shows.
