Why do I need 2 Duets when 1 Duet has 4 outlets? I can plug 4 equipments to them. I am concerned at the inconsistency of the power cords used from the wall outlet to the conditioner and to the equipment.

While power conditioners keep the nasties in the electrical lines out of your components, they also work the other way 'round. Digital devices (CD/DVD/DAC) generate noise of their own and left unchecked, can send this noise to other components through the AC line. Most power conditioners don't have seperate filters for each outlet. Plugging all of your components into one power conditioner still lets any noise generated by digital circuits get to the other components.
mkuller's recommendation is a good one. I have one conditioner on my CD player and one on my pre. The one on the disc player has the biggest effect.
