Hey. Had a 5.8 watt Decware SE34i.2+ and went on a power trip and got a 35 watt PrimaLuna Prologue Four. Big mistake. The Decware played plenty loud on my 99 db efficient Klipsh Heresy III's. I was just tripping out on the power thing which was more in my head than how loud the Decware actually played with great contro. Totally missed the single ended glory of the Decware. Went all the way and got a ASL Tulip. 3.5 watts. Just gave it the loud test. PLENTY LOUD. Suprising speed, attack and presence with all the midrange glory. Insane vocals. I am not talking a little loud. Almost very loud. In the end it is all about the 99 db efficiency of the Heresy III's. Great combo. There is nothing I am not liking here. Once you go single ended and horns there is no going back. Happy Listening!!!

Maybe a bit off subject for this forum, but to make a big improvement on the Heresy's (at least to my ears) apply rope caulk or plumber's putty to the backside of the two horns. Damping the horns improved the clarity and detail of mids and highs.
I have no definitive engineering proof, but I liked it.
RPMac: can you give more details on how you appy those materials to the horns? about how much coveraage?
thanks

I pulled the horns out the front and covered the horn body with about a quarter inch of plumber's putty. More information on Klipsch forum.
pinkwaters: glad you got the SET groove back. and klipsch are imho under-rated SET speakers. on my klf-30s, my 3/4 watt 71A SET amp produces loud, detailed, warm, open music. amazing, really.

Yes, The wrightsound 3.5 2a3 mono blocks provide plenty of power through my Heresy III, and sound wonderful.
I don't think loudness is the only criterion though - power also helps for resolution of inner voices, but 3.5W into a Heresy is plenty for that, too.

I built my own version of George Wright mono blocs {I have his 2A3 circuit [xeroxed copy] hand drawn by George} and it IS an excellent circuit.
He had some novel grounding schemes and thought somewhat outside of the box in circuit improvement... DEAD quiet.
The chassis you see was leftover ones obtained after George had passed on.
The only changes made were to use 45 valves as well as 2a3 and as you can see, 45's being used. They drive Klipsch Forte II's plenty loud.
George was constantly changing and improving his design and I have not seen one set of amps that were exactly 'like' another {circuit wise}.

Nice that you've got George's circuit diagram.
I am noticing a bit of hum from my WrightSound 2A3s into the Heresy III - maybe the 99 dB HIIIs are showing an artifact I hadn't noticed in my previous 96dB speakers.
But, it could also be the Wrightsound 20 pre-amp, which seems to have some idiosyncracies.
