I've enjoyed watching them since childhood.
Your display is fabulous!
Follow Ups:
It seems like the summer heat really get them going.
I've seen a few, but I think the hatch is just beginning here.
What's really cool in the Mid South is when the dragonflies arrive. You see them in the hundreds as they flock to the sunshine. Never annoying even if you walk among them and some seem to come up and introduce themselves.

As a kid, I "collected" insects. In other words, I had an insect collection. One of the hardest bugs to get were dragonflies. You can't really "chase" them, 'cause they're quick little critters. They can turn whichever way whenever they want. So, the key is to have your net up and ready to go, and just stand still until the right moment.
Also, they're "beneficial" insects: They're predators, and eat things like mosquitoes and gnats. That's why we see them hovering/flitting over lawns - they're hunting!

We are inclusive and diverse, but dissent will not be tolerated.
That's another cool insect. We don't have large swarms of dragonfly's, at least I have never seen them.
