Hi folks, I do hope a few of you still hang out on AA so that I could get some assistance on getting my Sony Blu Ray player working with all the formats they claim to feature.
The thing is supposed to play my damn SACDs......and it does in a very weird way. I have the Sony connected to my sound system. I can play movies with it, watch TV, and spin red book CDs. They all sound great through my 2A3 mono blocks, but the SACDs will only playback through my $3.00 TV speakers!!!!!!!!!!!! However I connect it...........just doesn't work. Please don't bore me with DSD bs...........because I don't care. My Denifrips Plinius ll processes that, but like all DACs they lack the copy rights from Sony/Philips to process the SACD technology. I have tons of Non-Hybrid discs that will only play through those cheap speakers. Why..what the hell is happening. Clearly, the blueray machine is processing the discs. I see the music playback info including the 2.8 mhz right on my tv screen. Anybody out there that could shed light on this audio mystery would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Tom B.

[EDIT]: I now see that you've posted your question into 3 (THREE!) different forums. Now you're getting a variety of responses to each which is a royal pain to follow. This is one reason posting the same thing to multiple forums is frowned upon.
You didn't mention which MODEL Sony Blu Ray player you have. Does it have ANALOG outputs?I think Gary is on the right track. If your Blu Ray player has ANALOG outputs you should be able to direct SACD playback to them (maybe in a Setup menu). Otherwise you might need additional gear per Gary's post.

in the wrong place .
I vaguely remember encountering this problem with my Sony UBP-X800 Blu Ray player. Playback of SACDs in this device resulted in audio only through my Sony TV. I had a small audio system set up which was connected to the Blu Ray player using the coax connection.
As I recall the problem was copy protection. DSD output from coax or HDMI could only be heard through a separate audio system if an AVR was used which contained the correct decoding chip.
If the Blu Ray player had an analog out I suspect that would have worked.
Of course, this may have nothing to do with your situation but that's what I remember when I had this issue.
If I'm reading your post correctly, he won't be able to play SCAD through HDMI or Coax. Shouldn't he be able to play through the analog RCA outs, if he has them?
Dave
Yes. Analog outputs should work.
