Dear M3 lover, I greatly appreciate your including so much useful information in your reply.
Long ago, I went on a turntable-buying-and-trying binge. I bought an AR-XA, an AR-XB, The AR Turntable, a Thorens TD-166, a TD-160, a TD-125 Mk II, a TD-125 Mk I and have had my TD-124 Mk I for many years. All the others were sold. I had a couple of different arms for the TD-124 and it is now sporting an SME-3012 with a Shure V15-Vx MR cartridge. It's a good-sounding rig.
The table I bought just now has a single motor. Its walnut plinth is not solid lumber. It is veneer is over plywood. The serial number is XA194255 if that means anything. It is, in fact, nearly identical to the AR-XA I bought years ago.
The table is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I went to a thrift shop yesterday and picked up some LPs to have something to play on it.
Here's hoping it survives the shipping!
Thank you again,
George
