Philipp,I have been involved in the design and manufacture of high resolution audio capacitors for nearly 20 years. Your experience is exactly the same as ours. We used to sell extra capacitors by advising that people use small value bypass in signal coupling situations. We have since found that it is like listening to two things at once. A single high quality capacitor will always work/sound better than the same capacitor bypassed with a smaller value. The bypassing idea is valid only when the main coupling capacitor is of low quality.
If you must combine values the best way is to use equal values of the same type/brand capacitor. This is still not as good as a single high quality capacitor but it is the next best thing.
The exception to this "rule" is in the power supply. In the power supply bypass capacitors should always be used.
