The Mark 3 configuration of the VT100 is, as others have already stated, much much better sonically than the Mark 1 or 2. Also, in terms of reliability, I would bet on it also, though you should only retube through ARC and a set for the mark 3 is now going for $800. 2000 hours goes by in 2 years for me. Great for all types of music.Good luck.
