The AVA does everything and more than the AE-25. It should it is a 250 watt per channel Hybrid tube amp. It is much more dynamic, transparent and all that power gives it a weight that the 'little AE-25' just does not have.I liked the sound very much of the AE-25. It has the sweet liquid, lush sound that only a tube amp has. Same with the AVA Fet-Valve. The AE-25 is also very transparent, and detailed just not to the degree of the Fet-Valve.
As far as my friends Bel Canto Digital. We liked it the least of the three. It has more of the 'solid state sound', which I do not prefer.
The lushness is not there. It is also the least transparent and dynamic of the 3 mentioned amps. Don't get me wrong - I am not saying that the Bel Canto is a poor amp, quite the contrary. I think it is a very good amp. We are just comparing the best of the best.
