Did you try NOS Mullard EL-34 with the IT-85? The manufacturers insists on using the stock tubes not to void the guarantee.I recently sold my Cary SLI-50 integrated amp (with stock Telsa E34L tubes) because I thought that 3 amps are too much for me. With NOS Mullard tubes it sounded magical, and with Tesla tubes the magic had gone. I feel I will miss that characteristic EL-34 sound and I am considering a replacement - perhaps, the IT-85 integrated. I auditioned it two years ago at the dealer and it impressed me as being not tubey but very clear and dynamic.
