I bought 4 Amperex 7308s from Kevin Deal. They lasted about a 31 days.
Just after the warrantee expired. Kevin sold me 2 more @ $40 each. Those lasted about 35 days. I had extensive conversations with Kevin. He finally admitted that the Amperex 7308 is not a good tube for the Mod3. He told me that many customers were having problems with the 7308 and Mod3.I have seen Kevin recommend Amperex 7308s on the net. I usually email the recepient and tell him of my problems. I don't know why Kevin continues to recommend this tube for Mod3(a) preamps. They are expensive and they can't handle the current.
I have yet to read a positive post about the longevity of Amperex 7308s in an AI Mod3 preamp.
