Then I heard a pair of QUAD 57s and bough a pair of used Goodman's Axioms. Then I had a long term pair of Celestion Ditton 15s. Variously tweaked with polycarb M-film caps, bitumen roofing goo on inside walls, along with adding weight to the ABR (MDF painted black over soft thin lead sheeting. Plus thick felt around the tweeter.
Almost bought a pair of almost new BLACK 57s and / or NS 1000s then heard a pair of Audiosphere Model 3's and had them for > two decades, and still do! Variously tweaked ? see AA reviews?
EBP product of ~400,000 (-3db 35Hz and -3db 13K multiplied). SFA diffraction with grille's off, 91 db/w easy 8 0hm + load. Time and phase coherent when angled back on their dished \/ round column stands - collimated with test signals. They weighed 35 kilos ? (concrete). Plus concrete stands (several round dishes) with added sand-fill. 'Allison distances' room/spkr set up. 1:1.6:2.6.
Oh yes, one more thing a flat baffle meant that they did NOT have one single standing wave inside! okay?!
Next? QUAD 63s plus four subs in a tight-budget / $$$ dribble project.
Warmest
