while I agree with your characterization of this "musical" farce, I have to point out that it is not as innocent as you would have us beleive. It is not just "adolescent drivel." It is the driving force behind the recorded music industry right now, and therefore the strongest factor in molding what our young people veiw as music.

It disturbs me deeply that young people not only consume this crap, but they LOVE IT. What is it about this stuff that resonates with people? How can we teach our youth to appreciate real music? Don't think that I'm advocating only the same dead white guy stuff we've been playing for the last 200 years - I also don't think that is a healthy way to approach music. There has to be a middle ground between such historical stagnation and modern, no-substance, no-talent garbage.

We must find a way to get people turned on to real, living, breathing, artistic music created by people who dedicate their lives to art, not just making money and being able to be on MTV partying like a rock star. It hurts me deeply that I have worked my whole life to refine my skills and my ears as a musician, and all the American public want to consume is some stupid girl in tight clothing that couldn't hold a pitch if it hand velcro-covered handles on it. Breaks my heart.
