People at MTV take these acts seriously?not as musicians, as video performers. that's what those awards are for, as plainly stated on the wrapper, videos. that's not to say that what they are rewarding isn't generally as uninteresting to me as much of the music, though.
Recording companies hand out contracts to these acts?
apparently someone is buying it. sometimes you do gotta wonder if record companies are still in the business of selling music for commercial pop consumption, or just cheesy little movies featuring sexy youths, which happen to include a danceable beat of some sort..
