I recently moved from Denver to Portland, Or. Denver had just lost
its commercial classical station (which was *quite* good, btw), and
was left with only the local npr station, which plays npr news 8 or
more hours per day, and "lite" classical musical the rest of the time.
The situation for jazz radio in Denver wasn't much better, either:
one npr station that mixed jazz with chicago electric blues, R&B,
some rock, and latin - definitely not very listenable. Now Portland,
on the other hand, has a truly great jazz station (KMHD), but I cant
speak to the classical situation, since I listen so much to the jazz
and one of the talk stations.Like many others, I too am looking forward to the advent of satellite
based radio feeds; I'm hoping satellite radio will not be just a repeat of the on-the-air crap we get these days.Mike
