Sometimes I'm glad that I am an uneducated music lover who doesn't know about the cliques, who's in and who's out, and who sucks even before one note is played. I try to enjoy anyone who has the guts and determination and ability to make recordings of beautiful music the way they see it. I usually enjoy just about everything I hear on my system. Although, I do enjoy some performances more than others :)
I remember listening to the "learned" music majors who worked in the classical music section Tower Records in Atlanta. This performer sucked, that one was boring, another was way overrated, etc. I don't remember ever hearing one of them say anything positive about any musician or performance. Real music lovers.... I made a note to myself that I wouldn't descend into that abyss.
