" The ATC SCM 40 V2 passive, driven by Devialet Expert Pro 440/1000, with SAM, sounds better than the active SCM 40 V2."You have touted this system before, and I have pointed out a couple of the basic elements of the "SAM" processor. You continue to neglect to say how this is done. It's important for new readers to understand that signal processing, in the form of equalization (EQ) and limiting, are used to achieve those results.
I'm certainly not against using signal processing to make loudspeakers sound better. Heck, most sound engineers use EQ and limiting as a matter of regular practice to produce the sound they want.
There are audiophiles who eschew (refuse to use, abhor) tone controls in their hifi systems, but are quite comfortable with the EQ in their loudspeaker crossovers, recordings, and digital processors.
