Wrong!!!! Well sort of. Items are priced by "dimensional weight". So a 24 x 24 x24 box filled with air is the same price as boxes with weight in it, up to a certain weight threshold, then special handling charges kick in. It's all about real estate in a truck and the space boxes take up. So they do care about weight, but not for your average package weight. Sounds like you havent shipped anything in awhile!
