I have everything Pat Methany has ever recorded, most of it on vinyl. Generally the sonics are quite good with his stuff. The later W/B recordings are not nearly as good(sonically) as his earlier ECM recordings IMO.
Doesn't surprise me with the Sergio Mendes reissues. The original A&M vinyl pressings are outstanding. I would imagine any CD reisssue would be a step backwards. And his very early Sergio Mendes Trio recordings are just outstanding examples of Bossa Nova. No pop/Bossa Nova hybrid here just straight ahead Bossa Nova. I have never seen this stuff reissued. Too bad, it is wonderful.
You might play carefully with the new Sergio. He demonstrates the he is indeed 'Timeless'. Collaboration with Will.I.Am and the Black Eyed Peas. If you don't like hip-hop you won't like this disc. But if you do, it is incredible. And the sonics! Man it is a wonderful demo disc for woofers(and everything else). Love to blow folks away with this disc and my Quads. Yes the Quads will most certainly slam in the bottom end. I can get them cranking with this disc at 95-100db and the Quads just won't quit. Everyone swears I am hiding my 24" Hartleys somewhere!
The Cullun was recorded in analogue and my experience is the best sounding CDs are recorded in analogue.
