Maybe you need a better SACD player. In several years of playing SACDs, hybrids as well as single layer discs, I have never had a single case of malfunction of any kind. I have never had any recording stop before the end.
Because background noise is eliminated, the large dynamic range is very effectively utilized, the sound quality is superb, and the miking is generally very good on recent classical SACD releases, it is much easier to appreciate the quality of the performances than on older CDs and many vinyl recordings. Of course, this can be good or bad, depending on the particular performance.
