...The best bang for my buck to date has been a mix of new old stock and vintage (tried and true):
Koss portapro headphones, a '90's Sony walkman CDP with line out jack and wall wart power, Sonic-T amp, good vintage thrift speakers -- Walnut veneer and heavy driver magnets are signs of good quality.I've seen Leak, Pioneer, Bozak, Coral, etc. in the last decade of grazing thrifts. Realistic minimus 7's are nice small vintage speaker. Optimus LX-5's have the fabulous linaeum tweeter. There are others.
The Koss Porta pro's were a big suprise right out of the Walkman CDP -- excellent fidelity.
Enjoy the hunt!
