In the late 70s I had a Marantz 2245 which drove my *famous* Rogers LS3/5A with some difficulty. One day I took my speakers to a friend who had a Marantz 2220.Vow,it was much better than my reciever. The sound was so musical with some clean bass, not the bumpy bass that everyone says is a trademark of Rogers.I remember getting rid of the 2245(which I had bought at Canal St) and buying an Onkyo A5 at a big discount at TechHifi where the salesman advised me to go for A7 which he said had better bass. But I had no money and A5 was OK.This Onkyo I used for 25 years. But the Marantz 2220 was better sounding. Why didnt I go for it?One of the great audio blunders of my life!
