So even if it is?

Although impossible to proove either way, the bulk of the evidence suggests that the photos are indeed of the 47 Labs Gaincard.

Happy now?

In one sense I am: looking at the circuit I realised there wasn't a cap on the feedback loop. Instead the cap was at the input. I modified my gainclone to match and noticed a huge improvement in sound. I must admit that I would not have thought of that by myself.

But for the most part, the fun was in the guessing.

Now the question I would like to leave you with is this:

Does the gaincard sound as good as it does because of the way it is built, or in spite of it?

If you own a Gaincard.. it sounds the same today as it did yesterday, enjoy it for the great sounding amp it is.

If you own a gainclone, well we now have a little more information, but it is still quite possible that your version is better anyway.

If you are in the business of selling 47 labs products: The truth will out, always. If you can't justify the price to someone with a full knowledge of the product, you are acting with deceitful intent. Your half hearted denials are disgraceful.
