I have come to really love checking out different pieces of gear. I kind of relate audio gear to different women that i have been with. They all have different traits and characteristics, some that you love and others that you dislike. Some that you will never forget, some that you want to keep around and others that you have learned your lesson from. It is all part of life and enjoying / learning from the various experiences that we encounter.Another aspect about "demo'ing" various gear is that i really dig finding sonic bargains. I have been able to help friends set up systems that cost pennies on the dollar. They can't believe the differences between what they are hearing now and what their store bought system were "shoveling" at them before. I can't believe the satisfaction I get out of seeing someone's reactions after setting up a system for them and having them experience what good reproduction is all about. The personal satisfaction of helping them and getting the results that we were looking for is payment enough for all the "demo'ing" that i have done over the years.
No Rodney, there is nothing wrong with trying out new things or experimenting. After all, we would still be in the stone age if everyone had the "nothing ever changes" attitude. Sean
