A friend of mine inherited a McIntosh CD player years ago manufactured in 1992. State of the art at the time, it's having issues and about on its last legs. He's on a budget and needs to stay around $500 or thereabouts. Based on my experience with CD players, both myself and another audiophile suggested going new, refurbished w/warranty, or dealer open box or demo. We attended the Florida Audio Expo and two primary recommendations came up; Marantz CD-6007 or Rotel CD-11. Any thoughts on either or other possible options from sound quality, build quality, or both?
