Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Better Still ??

Thanks Joe, that's interesting stuff. The Black Note DSS looks interesting, although (strictly between you and me), I think there's a much better alternative - and it's built in US!

It can be used as a conventional DAC with traditional inputs (S/PDIF, toslink and AES/EBU), plus USB and even I2S. With a slot-in card, it will connect to a network via Ethernet, so it can be used with just a NAS as a high-end music server. It has a variable output so you won't even need a preamp.

It looks better built and specified than the DSS and certainly comes from a much better-known company. Price is around $3000. It's on my shopping list as soon as it's released next month!

I think Ayre are missing a trick if their DAC is so limited in what it can do, however well it does it!

Best wishes

Peter
