Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

And yet a coupla more options

I use both the tube buffer (old MF X10d) and the Taddeo Digital Antidote II Passive unit. Each smooths out the sound and does NOT roll off to my ears nor take anything away from the dynamics.

Taddeos are still available for around $100 and are a passive unit. They work exactly as reviewed. Effect is subtle but noticeable.

MF X10d also works exactly as reviewed in my system. From what I see of that Yaqin, though I've never heard one, it might be a better deal. Looks like it permits you to tweak more easily and at $175 on sale it's the same price as trying to scare up an X10d used on ebay.

One more option nobody mentions but I'm convinced of: different ICs. I have mine custom built by Joe Mazzaglia of Auricle Audio Designs at Audiogon (or e-mail him mostly at auricleaudiodesign@hotmail.com). He hand builds them carefully with very low metal mass terminations and Beryllium Copper custom wire. These definitely take the digital edge off CDs!!!! I've been very very happy with his ICs and their impact in my rig and highly recommend him to you.
